Vocation Prayers - Married Life

Heavenly Father, as we prepare to unite in marriage,
we seek Your guidance and blessings.
Help us to deepen our understanding and
love for each other, rooted in Your love.
Grant us patience, kindness, and
the strength to nurture a relationship that reflects
Your grace and commitment.
May our journey together bring glory to Your name,
as we grow in faith and love,
serving each other and our community with joy and devotion.
Amen.

Dear Lord, bless our marriage with love that
grows stronger each day.
Grant us the patience, understanding,
and strength to support one another in every circumstance.
May our relationship always reflect Your grace and truth,
serving as a testament to the love You have for us.
Keep us united and faithful, and let our partnership
glorify You in all things.
Amen.

Heavenly Father we come before you
to thank you for all you have done and
continue to do in our lives and marriage.
We come before you today, God,
asking for a stronger bond of unity in our marriage covenant.

Father we ask that you will give us the ability
to be a united front for you letting nothing come between us.
Help us, Father to identify and work through anything
that is not pleasing to you so we can
continually reach higher levels of unity in our marriage
– spiritually, physically, and mentally.

We are thankful and excited to see the work of your hand
as we do our best to seek your face daily.
We love you and thank you for all of these things.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

“Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit,
binding yourselves together with peace.” (Ephesians 4:3 NLT)

Heavenly Father, we ask you today,
to strengthen the bonds of both physical
and spiritual intimacy in our marriage.
We are thankful that you have called husband and wife
to intimacy with you first, and intimacy with one another.

Please show us any behavior we have been committing
that has been preventing us from entering into
a deeper intimate relationship with you and one another.
Once trust is broken it can be nearly impossible
to regain on our own, however,
we know that all things are possible with you God.
Heal our hearts, Father, of past hurts and
help us to trust in you and one another again.

We thank you right now for increased intimacy in our marriage
as we seek to honor you and
one another through our marriage covenant.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Lord, we come before you today,
humbled by the gift of our love for one another.
We thank you for bringing us together and
for the joy we experience in our marriage.
We ask for your continued blessing upon us,
that we may grow in love and understanding with each other,
and that we may always be mindful
of the sacred vows we made on our wedding day.
Help us to communicate openly and honestly,
to be patient and forgiving,
and to support each other through life’s challenges.
May our love for each other be a reflection of your love for us,
and may we always be mindful
of the importance of our commitment to one another.
We ask for your strength to weather any storms
that may come our way,
and for your guidance as we navigate the ups and downs
of married life.
May our love for each other grow stronger
with each passing day,
and may we always strive to build a happy
and fulfilling life together.
Amen.

Lord, we pray for your blessing on our marriage.
We ask that you would help us to grow in love and
understanding for one another.
Help us to communicate effectively,
to forgive freely,
and to support each other through thick and thin.
We ask that you would help us to build
a strong foundation for our marriage
based on your love and your word.

Help us to make our home a place of peace, joy, and love.
Help us to be faithful to our vows,
to honor each other,
and to grow spiritually together.
We pray that our marriage would be a beacon of hope and
light in the world, a testament to the power of your love.
Amen.

Lord, we are so grateful for the gift of our love for each other.
We pray that our love will continue to grow stronger
with each passing day and that we will always cherish
the time we have together.
Help us to be patient and understanding with each other,
to forgive each other freely,
and to support each other through life’s challenges.
Help us to be mindful of the importance of our commitment
to each other, and to always strive to make our marriage a priority.
We ask that you would bless our marriage
and help us to build a happy and fulfilling life together.

Heavenly Father, as we strive to continuously build a stronger marriage, help us to forgive one another for things that may hurt or offend us. Help us to walk in forgiveness and never lose sight of the fact that you have forgiven us.

Help us to show your mercy and grace to our spouse each time they need it and not bring up past hurts or failures. Let us be an example of forgiveness to not only our spouse but to those around us so we can continue to show your love to all we meet. Help us to also forgive ourselves if we struggle with condemnation.

Thank you for your life-giving words of truth that we may be redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9 NIV)

Today, we give our marriages to You. Forgive us for putting them and our spouses before You. Forgive us for putting ourselves as well as our desires and plans for the future before You and Yours.

Search our hearts, Lord. Convict us and clear out all the hardness and ick that is clogging up the flow of Love in our lives. Reset our relationship with You. Restore our hope in Jesus Christ and open our minds and hearts to the healing truth that only He can rush into our lives in these moments of madness.

Give us the strength to be brave. Replace the fear of what might happen and what the future might hold with Christ-centered courage. We can’t be strong right now. We are broken and barely breathing. But You, the living God, in us, are our strength.

Through the Holy Spirit of the One True God, empower us with humility, gentleness, patience, peace, and unity (Ephesians 4:2-3). Curb our anger from morphing into bitterness and hatred. Forgive us for the times we lose our tempers and our sanity towards our spouse.
Amen.

You blessed the union of married couples
so that they might reflect the union of Christ
with his Church:
look with kindness on them.
Renew their marriage covenant,
increase your love in them,
and strengthen their bond of peace
so that, with their children,
they may always rejoice in the gift of
your blessing.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Heavenly Father, make me a better parent. Teach me to understand my children, to listen patiently to what they have to say, and to answer all their questions kindly. Keep me from interrupting them or contradicting them. Make me as courteous to them as I would have them be to me. Forbid that I should ever laugh at their mistakes, or resort to shame or ridicule when they displease me. May I never punish them for my own selfish satisfaction or to show my power.

Let me not tempt my child to lie or steal. And guide me hour by hour that I may demonstrate by all I say and do that honesty produces happiness.

Reduce, I pray, the meanness in me. And when I am out of sorts, help me, O Lord, to hold my tongue.

May I ever be mindful that my children are children and I should not expect of them the judgment of adults.

Let me not rob them of the opportunity to wait on themselves and to make decisions.

Bless me with the bigness to grant them all their reasonable requests, and the courage to deny them privileges I know will do them harm.

Make me fair and just and kind. And fit me, O Lord, to be loved and respected and imitated by my children. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dear God,
I come to you today with a heavy heart,
praying for the health and well-being of my parents.
You have given them to me as a precious gift,
and I am grateful for every moment! get to spend with them.

Lord, I ask that you watch over them
and protect them from harm.
Please give them the strength to face any challenges
that come their way and grant them good health,
both physically and mentally.

I pray that you bless them with peace and happiness,
and surround them with your love and grace.
Help them to find comfort and solace in your presence,
and let them know that they are never alone.

Please guide their steps and give them wisdom
and discernment in all their decisions.
May they continue to grow in their faith and trust in you,
and may they always be a shining example
of your love to those around them.

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of my parents.
I entrust them into your hands,
knowing that you are the Great Physician and Healer.
May your will be done in their lives,
and may your name be glorified through their health and well-being.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Almighty God, the Father and Maker of us all,
Who by Your blessing and goodness
have called and made me a father of children,
be blessed to accept my hearty thanksgiving
and devout praise for making me a father.
Grant me Your Heavenly grace and assistance
so to train my children to awe, love and serve You,
so as they advance in years,
they may grow in grace and may be saved
and be received into Heaven by Your grace.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

O Almighty God,
you gave us the commandment
to honour our father and mother.
In your loving kindness
hear my prayer for my parents.
Give them long lives
and keep them well in body and spirit.

Bless their labours;
keep them always in your care.
Bless them generously for their loving care for me.
Grant that, through your grace,
I may always be their support
and comfort, and that,
after our life together on earth,
we may experience the joy together praising you forever.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of my family, for whom I now pray and upon whom I now ask you to shower your blessings. With Saint Joseph as my guide, may I always be ready to spend my life for them.

Bless my wife whom you have given to me as my spouse, sharing in your wondrous work of creation. May I see her as my equal and treat her with the love of Christ for his Church. May Mary be her guide and help her to find your peace and your grace.

Bless my children with your life and presence. May the example of your Son be the foundation upon which their lives are built, that the Gospel may always be their hope and support.

I ask you, Father, to protect and bless my family. Watch over it so that in the strength of your love its members may enjoy prosperity, possess the gift of your peace and, as the Church alive in this home, always bear witness to your glory in the world.
Amen.

O God, I beg thee for the strength and wisdom to raise my children well. Grant me enough wisdom to guide them along the right paths, and to teach them to follow thee. Let me be firm enough to teach them discipline, yet gentle enough to show them love and compassion. Let me understand them enough to hear the words they are too shy to say, and to help them when they are too proud to ask for help. Give me time with them, to enjoy their company, to play, to teach, to listen. Let me be honest with them, that they might learn to be honest with me in turn. Let me be true to what I say, that they might never fear trusting me. Let me be forgiving of their errors, that they might know I love them no matter what they do. May the example of my life inspire them to reach for what is good. So fill my heart with love for them that I might do thy will in raising them. And grant me the grace to make amends for times when I have failed them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

O Mary, Pure and Immaculate Virgin, Chaste Spouse of Saint Joseph, tender Mother of Jesus, perfect model of wives and mothers, I come to you full of respect, confidence and veneration. Kneeling at your feet, I implore your help.

Behold, O pure Mary, my needs and those of my family. Listen to the desires of my heart, as I entrust them to your tender heart. May I, through your intercession, obtain from Jesus the grace to fulfill my obligations as wife and mother. Obtain for me a holy fear of God, love of work and good deeds, love of prayer and holy things, sweetness, patience, wisdom, and finally, all the virtues that the Apostle Saint Paul recommends for Christian women, virtues that make for the happiness of families.

Teach me to honor my husband, as you honored Saint Joseph and as the Church honors Jesus Christ. May my husband find in me a wife after his heart; may the holy union we entered on earth continue in heaven. Protect my husband; guide him along the path of goodness and justice–because his happiness is as dear to me as my own.

I also entrust my poor children to your maternal heart. Be their mother; incline their hearts to piety. Do not allow them to stray from the path of virtue. Make them happy, and after our deaths, let them remember their father and mother; let them pray to God for us and honor our memory with their virtues.

Tender Mother; make them pious, charitable, and good Christians always, so that their lives, filled with good deeds, may be crowned with holy deaths. O, Mary, grant that one day we may be united in heaven, and there contemplate your glory, celebrate your goodness, enjoy your love and eternally praise your beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Gracious and loving God
you have blessed us with the privilege of becoming Parents.
We ask that you provide us with all that we need
in accepting this awesome responsibility.

We pray that we will be open to your spirit
who is our source of strength
as we witness to our children
your love for each of them and your desire for them
to be happy and to live a full life.

We ask your help
so we may guide and encourage our children
to believe that they each have a special calling
and to use their gifts and talents for others.

We pray, Heavenly Father,
that our children will discover
and respond enthusiastically to your desire for them
whether it be to the vocation of single, married,
ordained or consecrated life.

We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus
through the grace of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
